Winter Safari Highlights

Wildebeest against the evening sky
You may have noticed my absence for a few weeks and that, as usual, means I've been away on safari!

There are so many stories to tell that I don't know where to start, so in the meantime I'm just going to post some of my favourite animal “portraits” from the last few trips.

We have had a lot of cloudy, windy weather in the last month and that doesn't make for ideal lighting or the best photographs, but I hope you enjoy them anyway:)

A magnificent male lion, resting between mating with a lioness (just out of sight)

Lilac-breasted roller, with lunch

The biggest Kudu male I've ever seen

Hippo, heron, crocodiles and Yellow-billed storks

A rare sighting of Verreaux's Eagle-Owl

There were five African Wild Dog "playing" on the road early one morning...

A "study" in Buffalo!

A protective elephant mother, whilst the calf practices lifting stones

On these windy, cool mornings the animals often lie down, in groups, out in the open areas......
